NHL playoffs debate? Kings win in OT, while Oilers see high-stick

If awards were provided for blown leads, the Edmonton Oilers would be one video game far from advancing in the NHL playoffs.

However rather, the Los Angeles Kings lead their first-round series 2 video games to one as an outcome of an overtime objective that left the Oilers annoyed in more methods than one.

Trevor Moore netted the winner on a play that saw Gabriel Villardi almost play the puck with a high stick in the offending zone, a play, per Guideline 80, that would’ve required a blockage as the puck was confined by the Kings. While Oilers star Connor McDavid instantly punctuated to gesture for a high-stick, the NHL’s scenario space stated there was no definitive video proof that figured out the puck touched Villardi’s stick.

Los Angeles Kings left wing Trevor Moore (12) celebrates with right wing Gabriel Vilardi (13) and center Quinton Byfield (55) after scoring the winning goal in overtime of Game 3 of their playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers.

” It’s a play where the best gamer worldwide (Connor McDavid) is 2 feet away as it occurs, and his arm comes directly in the air,” Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft informed press reporters “He understands that it struck the stick. Otherwise, he would not put his arm up in the air. He ‘d keep playing. It appears to me in the video that the puck’s going directly up in a trajectory and weakens.
