White Box vs. Black Box Settlement Systems

It is early winter season and surprisingly cold, snowy, or rainy in lots of parts of the U.S. In Buffalo they tape-recorded over 5′ of snow in less than a week accompanied by winds of approximately 45 miles per hour and the Costs “was robed once again” similar to in 1992! Being from Western New York City, I really comprehend what a winter season of discontent seems like.

However what depressed me more was a wave of short articles in the legal trade publications about a little (however potentially growing) variety of law practice that were moving or thinking about transferring to a “Black Box” kind of partner settlement systems. A Black Box system is one in which a specific partner’s settlement is concealed from the other partners.
